Human beings have been bestowed with the power to speak and using this power, he can express anger, happiness, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, approval, disapproval and so on. Animals are the unfortunate beings as they aren’t blessed to express their feelings. Being blessed with the ability to speak, we human beings possess the power to command and using this power, we make the animals submissive to us. Times have changed; we human beings have exhibited compassion not only to our fellow mates but also to our animal friends. Compassion and its benefits extend beyond consideration of human life. It’s one of our most striking qualities as human beings and we have countless opportunities to express it to the world around us. Let us use the ‘ability to love’ to love every creation of God, even the animals. Kindness to animals is as important as kindness to human beings.
Nowadays it’s a trend to have animals as pets. It’s no surprise to find a pet in every home that you visit. Pet animals are lucky as they have a home and are much cared and loved. Stray animals aren’t any less living beings just because they don’t have a home, exactly the same way people living on the streets aren’t any less human just because they are homeless. It is not sufficient to simply do good deeds; one must do them for the right reason and in this effort to spread happiness and compassion towards our animal friends, KAEWS – KIIT Animal & Environmental Welfare Society (KIIT-AEWS) organised a food donation and distribution drive on Raksha Bandhan, the 26th of August 2018. It’s a noble initiative by KIIT Animal and Environmental Welfare Society where students joined the cause by contributing food and feeding it to the stray animals, and rejoiced in the Art of Giving.
Kindness need not be in the form of a big approach; even a small gesture can make a significant difference. In a world where there is already hatred and negativity around, let’s make some effort to do something good and positive.
